First Day of !st Grade

So, of course my kids sleep in on the very first day of school. Which is fine because Belle doesn't catch the bus until 8:52 a.m. but I had somethings I wanted to get done before I had to rush her out the door
We (Bryce, Berk and I) walked Belle to the bus stop today in front of the house and as we were walking out I told Belle that we would be meeting her at school to help her find her class and kinda get organized. I got the "Why?". I told her "I don't know, I just thought that maybe you would be a little nervous or kinda scared on your first day". She looked at me and said "Mom I am fine. I get off the bus, turn left go pass the library and go straight and my class is in the corner. Oh but first I am going to go say hi to Mrs. Smith (her kindi teacher) and then I will go right to class." I said "All right, have a good day and I will see you at 3:45 when you get off the bus."
And that was it. She is such a big girl now with a TON of independence.
A lot of my friends were pretty sad about today, but me I am happy. This is totally Belle. She loves to be busy, she LOVES her friends and so it doesn't make me sad seeing her go do something she loves to do.
In fact, this morning Bryce was trying to make her jealous by saying he was having a play date with his friends and Belle said to him that she didn't care that she was going to school to see ALL her friends. And she is right. She has SO many friends that school today I am sure is one big play date. She reminded me all summer that she gets 3 recesses and she is super excited about it!
